I want to Make a Difference!
First and foremost, our coaches make a difference in how our children experience any sporting activity. In addition to coaches, we need volunteers in many areas of the Ascension Athletic Association, as we continually strive to improve our programs. We are always in need of positive, enthusiastic people who are willing to dedicate their time and talent to help run the Ascension Athletic Association for the benefit of our children.
It is easy to say "I'm too busy", or "I travel for my job", or "No one has asked me to help", or "Let Joe/Sam/Sue keep doing that job". If you make it a priority to become involved and to help improve the program, you will find the time. Ascension has many talented people with great organizational skills that could help ensure our programs continue to offer the very best for our children. Let's take advantage of our collective skills.
If you are interested in any of the following areas or want to learn more about the Ascension Athletic Association, please use the 'I want to make a difference!' link under the Contact Us link.
Cross Program Positions: There are many opportunities to volunteer and make a contribution across several sports. Opportunities include; helping distribute uniforms and equipment, coordinating CYC ID nights, volunteering at the league level, helping out with our annul soccer tournament, or even starting something new (such as a basketball tournament at Ascension).
Another area in need of additional help is communications (via this website). We are in need of technical, organized, and/or artistic people to improve this site. There are many areas where we could improve if we had a few more people working on it. If you know how to use a word processor, you can learn to update this website.
Adult Volleyball League: We are looking for someone to run the adult volleyball league. This is a great opportunity to get involved and have fun playing volleyball.
Basketball Program: Ascension has a well-established basketball program that works to teach children fundamental basketball skills. We have a training league program that is focused on teaching skills, rather than playing games. This builds the ability and confidence of our younger players. If children are successful at a sport, they tend to enjoy it more.
The basketball program has a CYC program director, a training league director, CYC league representatives, grade coordinators, uniform/equipment coordinators, and a scorekeeper coordinator. As you can see there are many positions available.
If you have an interest in basketball, please send us a note and we will work to get you involved.
Golf Program: Ascension has a small, but growing golf program. We started the program in 2005 as part of North County CYC District, but started a West County CYC golf program in 2006. While the program is relatively small, there are opportunities if you have an interest in getting involved.
Soccer Program: Ascension has a large, well-established soccer program that works to teach children fundamental soccer skills. We have a training league program that is focused on teaching skills by playing small-sided games. Parents of young children rave about the experience this provides for their children. This builds the ability and confidence of our younger players. If children are successful at a sport, they tend to enjoy it more.
The soccer program has an overall director, a CYC program director, a training league director, CYC league representatives, grade coordinators, uniform/equipment coordinators, and a referee coordinator. As you can see there are many positions available.

The season is short, but it gives the children a great opportunity to try out track and compete against CYC teams from all over St. Louis. While the program is relatively small, there are opportunities if you have an interest in getting involved.
